Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan emphasized the vital role of cultural practice in fostering sustainable environmental and social development.
Culture and the environment are interconnected, and a healthy cultural practice can contribute positively to environmental conservation, she said.
The adviser made these remarks at the grand inauguration of ‘Ananda Academy for Performing Arts’ in the capital’s Baridhara on Saturday as the chief guest.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan said culture is a fundamental medium for shaping human consciousness. A person with a strong cultural foundation would never resort to electrocution to kill wild elephants or harm wildlife like fishing cats without reason. A healthy cultural practice strengthens the nation.
She also welcomed the academy’s creative initiative and wished it success in its mission.
‘Ananda Academy for Performing Arts’ has been established to provide young children and teenagers with opportunities to engage in performing arts such as dance, music, and drama.
The academy’s opening ceremony featured captivating performances that enthralled the audience.
The event was presided over by Nasreen Sobhan, Chairperson of ASMT’s Board of Trustees, and featured performances by renowned cultural personalities including Shamim Ara Neepa, Abeda Sultana, and Rebeka Sultana.
