Anti-Corruption Commission chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen said that many of the accused in corruption is staying abroad. Many big accused are in neighboring countries; however, they will be brought back and made to stand trial.
He told this to the reporters after the inauguration ceremony of a 15-day training program for ACC officials on government procurement policy at the Engineering Staff College in Gazaria of Munshiganj on Monday morning.
Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen said, "A major source of corruption is procurement or government procurement. If we are aware of the procurement method, market price and whether what we are purchasing is necessary, it will be possible to reduce corruption. In past, in the medical sector, contractors used to decide what goods were needed, and supplies would be made accordingly. However, most of the operations would not be possible. Therefore, ACC officials are being made aware of these issues through training.”
The ACC chairman also said, "Operation Devil Hunt is a government campaign, from which ACC can be benefited.
The special guest of the event, Akhter Hossain, the organization's director general (Training and Information Technology), said, "Along with stopping corruption, we must pay the most attention so that no innocent person is harassed."
