Religious Affairs Advisor Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain said if a pilgrim cannot go for Hajj due to the negligence of the agency, the agencies will have to take responsibility.
“The Ministry of Religious Affairs or the Saudi government will not take that responsibility,” he said.
He said this at a briefing on the progress of the 2025 Hajj management at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain said, “The Saudi government has given strict instructions to complete contracts with Hajj service providers such as tents and catering services in Mina and Arafa, as well as house and hotel authorities, transport companies, and catering service providers by February 14. This time will not be extended. Out of the 70 leading agencies, 38 have made progress in completing contracts so far. The rest are lagging behind.”
The Religious Affairs Advisor said, “87,100 people have registered to go for Hajj this year. Among them, 5,200 people have registered to go for Hajj under government management. And this year, the Hajj quota was of 127,198 people. However, children will not be allowed to go for Hajj this time, though Saudi Arabia has not yet announced the age of the children.”
Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain said that the airfare for Hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh is not higher than that of other countries. The religious advisor also said that if a third carrier is approved outside Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia next year, a new airline will be hired through a tender to reduce the fare of the Hajj pilgrimage.”
