Trinamool BNP Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury has been granted a four-day remand by a Dhaka court in connection with the murder of Parvez Mia, a student from the Jatrabari area. The decision was made following a hearing on Monday in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq.
During the hearing, the prosecution, represented by Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Farooqui, requested a 10-day remand for the accused. In contrast, Shamsher Mobin’s defense lawyers sought to have the remand canceled and applied for bail. After considering both arguments, the court approved a four-day remand.
According to case sources, on August 5 last year, students had been peacefully protesting in the Jatrabari area since 10 a.m. At around 5 p.m., Parvez Mia was struck by gunfire at an intersection near the Jatrabari Police Station. He was initially taken to Mugda Medical College and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
