Ambassador of Bangladesh to Mexico Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey has said that the embassy would actively facilitate employment opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi professionals in Mexico's labour market, particularly in the fields of IT, agriculture, engineering, and other specialised sectors.

He made the remarks at a discussion event titled "Meet the Ambassador", organised by the Bangladesh Embassy in Mexico City on Sunday, according to a message received in Dhaka on Monday, reports BSS.

During the event, the newly-appointed ambassador exchanged views with members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Mexico.

He emphasised the significance of safe and regular migration processes and reaffirmed the embassy's commitment to strengthening such mechanisms.

The envoy further highlighted Bangladesh's zero-tolerance policy against human trafficking and underscored the need for greater awareness and preventive measures to curb the menace.

Addressing trade relations, Ansarey announced plans to elevate Bangladesh's exports to Mexico to $1 billion.

He outlined initiatives to expand the export of ready-made garments and pharmaceuticals while enhancing trade in leather goods, IT services, and agricultural products.

The ambassador acknowledged the vital role of remittances sent by expatriate Bangladeshis in bolstering the national economy.

He pledged to transform the embassy into a people-friendly mission, focusing on strengthening people-to-people connections between Bangladesh and Mexico.

The envoy urged expatriates to comply with local laws and adapt to Mexico's socio-cultural environment to foster greater integration and harmony.

Paying tribute to the martyrs of the July Uprising, he said their sacrifices would always be remembered.

He reiterated his commitment to building an inclusive Bangladesh and called for unity among all Bangladeshis.

"During the past fascist regime, Bangladesh was known as a land of enforced disappearances and killings. Now is the time to move forward and present Bangladesh as a disciplined, civilised, and prosperous nation on the global stage," Ansarey said.

The ambassador also expressed pride that Nobel Laureate Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has taken charge of the interim government, saying he was confident that Prof Yunus would ensure a free and credible election in line with public aspirations, ultimately restoring the people's ownership of the country.

Several members of the Bangladeshi community spoke at the event, extending their congratulations and best wishes to the new ambassador.

They also pledged their support for his initiatives to promote the welfare of expatriate Bangladeshis.

The event was moderated by the embassy's Head of Chancery Abdullah Al Farhad.
