A Dhaka court on Sunday ordered to freeze 56 bank accounts of former food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The anti-graft body in its plea said the former minister is trying to hand over or transfer his ill-gotten money from these 56 bank accounts. If he
successfully managed to do this, it may hamper the trial against him and these accounts should be frozen immediately, it added.
The same court on January 23 ordered to seize the income tax files of Sadhan Chandra Majumder.
Detective branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Sadhan Chandra Majumder from the capital's Bhatara area on October 3, 2024. He has
been shown arrested in different cases and was placed on different terms of remand already.
