Tragedy On Road: Five including three friends die in accidents
Symbolic

At least five people including three friends were killed in separate road accidents in Feni and Rajshahi.

In Feni: What started as a routine journey home for three friends ended in tragedy on Monday night when their motorcycle lost control and crashed on the Noakhali-Feni regional road in Dagonbhuiyan upazila.

The accident claimed the lives of all three riders, leaving their families and communities in mourning.

The victims—Antar Gosh(18), of Jugidia village in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila, Sourav Gopal(23), of Alipur village in Begumganj upazila, and Debu Boishab(21), of Birahimpur village in Companiganj—were returning home from Feni when the tragic incident occurred.

A Journey Cut Short

According to Delwar Hossain, a CNG-run autorickshaw driver who witnessed the crash, the motorcycle was speeding along the road when it struck a log of tree left by the roadside in Asharfpur, near Bakerbazar.

The impact caused all three riders to be thrown onto the road.

Before they could recover, a speeding vehicle from behind ran over two of them—Sourav and Debu—killing them on the spot.

Antar, who was severely injured, was rushed to Feni General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way, said Dr Md Sujan of the hospital.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Officer-in-Charge Md Harunur Rashid of Mohipal Highway Police Station said that law enforcement recovered two bodies from the accident site.

The bodies were sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, and legal formalities were underway.

The sudden loss of these young men has cast a shadow of grief over their villages, where they were known among their peers and families.

The tragedy serves as yet another grim reminder of the perils of reckless driving and road safety negligence.

A Community in Mourning

The deaths of Antar, Sourav, and Debu have left their families in shock, struggling to comprehend how a night out with friends turned into an irreversible loss.

Their untimely demise highlights the increasing number of road accidents in Bangladesh, often caused by unsafe road conditions, overspeeding, and lack of proper traffic regulations.

As authorities investigate the circumstances of the accident, locals hope that better safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic laws can prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Meanwhile, two people have died and five others injured in a road accident in Paba upazila of Rajshahi.

The accident happened around in the Notun Kasba area of the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway when a Dhaka-bound Desh Travels bus ran over a battery-powered auto-rickshaw and fled the scene around 6:00 pm on Monday, Damkura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rabiul Islam.

The deceased were identified as Md. Ibrahim(27), son of Takibul Islam from Faradpur village in Godagari upazila, and Md. Maruf(25), son of Rahim Munshi from Matikata village of the same upazila.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where doctors declared the two dead.

The bus, coming from Chapainawabganj, hit the auto-rickshaw and drove away. Seven passengers sustained severe injuries, and two were later declared dead at the hospital," the OC said.
