A 28-year-old Bangladeshi woman, Najma, was killed after being raped in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In response to the tragic incident, the anti-discrimination student movement has called for a protest rally. The rally is set to begin in front of the Raju sculpture at Dhaka University (DU) at 3 pm on Saturday.
Najma's body was discovered near Kalkere Lake in Bengaluru's Ramamurthy area on Friday. Police found signs of rape on the victim’s body. Najma, who worked as a maid in a nearby apartment, had been living with her husband in the Ramakrishna area. She went missing after leaving her workplace last Thursday, and her body was found the following morning. Passers-by alerted the police, who arrived at the lakeside to find Najma’s lifeless body. She had sustained injuries to her head and face, and signs of strangulation were evident.
A murder case has been filed, and the police suspect she was struck on the head with a stone. They are awaiting forensic results to confirm the extent of the sexual assault. Authorities are currently investigating and working to identify the perpetrators of this brutal crime.
