The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a 10-day 'ops alert' on the border.
BSF has also issued an instruction in this regard, in which it has been ordered to conduct drill on the border between Bangladesh and India in the northeast and West Bengal of India.
In addition, the BSF has advised to maintain extra vigilance and special alert in vulnerable areas of the border. This ops alert has been issued on the Bangladesh border mainly on the occasion of India's upcoming Republic Day, which will be effective until January 31.
According to a report by Indian news agency ANI, India has a total of 4,096 kilometers of border with Bangladesh, including several northeastern states and West Bengal. All the border out posts in charge of this long border have been alerted by issuing a notification on Thursday evening. In BSF terminology, this instruction is called 'ops alert'.
