A woman was killed when a pickup truck rear-ended her car at the Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza in Munshiganj on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, amid dense fog. Several others sustained serious injuries.
The accident occurred at the slope of a bridge on the highway around 5:30 am on Monday.
Upon receiving the news, police and fire service personnel arrived at the scene and recovered the body of the deceased.
She was identified as Panna Banik(35) resident of Bajitpur area of Kishoreganj.
Hasara Highway Police Outpost Incharge, Abdul Kader Jilani, confirmed the details of the accident, and said, "due to dense fog, a private car lost control and collided with two pickup trucks, resulting in the death of a woman at the scene."
The body of the deceased was recovered, and sent to the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex, from where it was taken to the Srinagar police station, according to the Fire Service.
Earlier, on Sunday, 13 vehicles were involved in collisions across six locations on the same highway, resulting in one fatality and at least 15 injuries.
