Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus paid rich tribute to the martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar on Victory Day.
On Monday (Dec 16), he offered flowers in homage at the National Memorial in Savar at 7:12 am. Accompanying him were Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta, several advisers, and the chiefs of the three armed forces.
After placing the wreath, the Chief Adviser stood in solemn silence for a while as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs of the country's War of Liberation in 1971.
During this time, a contingent drawn from the Armed Forces Division (AFD) - Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force - presented the state salute. The mournful sound of the bugle echoed.
The Chief Adviser signed the visitors' book kept at the Memorial grounds.
