BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed optimism that elections will be held very soon as per the will of the people.
Fakhrul expressed this optimism to journalists after paying tribute at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the capital's Mirpur on Saturday.
The BNP leader said, “We are always optimistic. The interim government has already been established, we are cooperating. We hope that an election will be held very soon according to the will of the people. The people will get the opportunity to elect their representatives through a free, fair and impartial election.”
Earlier, BNP leaders and activists gathered at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur, where they laid wreaths to honor the fallen intellectuals. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, led the tribute at 9:30 AM.
Also present at the ceremony were BNP standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan and Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, as well as Joint Secretary Generals Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Khairul Kabir Khokon. The gathering included Dhaka Metropolitan North Convener Aminul Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan South Convener Abdus Salam, and other leaders and party workers.
