Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called for a society where both men and women can enjoy equal security and dignity. Speaking at a district workers’ conference at the Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa ground on Friday, Dr Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the importance of a country where citizens, regardless of gender, can live freely and securely without the need for security guards in religious places such as mosques, temples, churches, and pagodas.
“If Jamaat-e-Islami is given the opportunity to establish a state based on the principles of the Quran, women will be able to fulfill their responsibilities with respect and dignity,” Dr Shafiqur Rahman. He assured that women would have the opportunity to contribute to state affairs according to their qualifications and skills.
He condemned efforts by certain groups to spread misinformation and undermine the country's reputation. He assured that these efforts would not succeed, highlighting that the people of Bangladesh are now more alert and committed to peace. “There are repeated attempts to disrupt peace, but a united nation will confront these conspiracies and establish lasting peace, in sha Allah,” he concluded.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer further said that the Awami League came to power through the atrocities of ‘Logi Baitha’ on October 28, 2006 and announced that they would choose the path of murder and disappearance to stay in power.
“Since that day, Bangladesh had lost its way. Bangladesh has been liberated after a long 14 and a half year. The Awami League has falsely accused many top leaders of Jamaat and hanged them in the name of trial. They have indiscriminately opened fire on students and the public in the anti-discrimination movement.”
Regarding Awami League politics, Shafiqur Rahman said, “They want to know from the families of the innocent people they killed whether they want this kind of politics anymore? Take the opinion of those who are paralyzed in hospital beds due to their disabilities.”
