A Chattogram court on Friday placed prime accused Chandan Das on a seven-day remand in connection with the killing of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, a lawyer, who was hacked to death during a clash between the followers of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das, police and a group of lawyers on November 26.
Another accused Ripan Das granted a five-day remand in the same case.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Kazi Shariful Islam passed the remand order after Kotwali police produced them before the court.
The two accused were produced before the court amid tight security. Police sought a 10-day remand for each accused.
Police arrested Chandan Das from the Bhairab Rail Station in Kishoreganj on Wednesday and Ripon Das from Anwara upazila of Chattogram.
