A murder attempt case has been filed against 95 individuals, including former Member of Parliament for Narayanganj-4, AKM Shamim Osman. The case also lists 200-300 unidentified leaders and activists of the Awami League.
The victim, Md. Al-Amin (36), filed the case at Siddhirganj Police Station on Thursday night (November 14).
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station, Al Mamun, confirmed the matter on Friday afternoon.
Among the other accused in the case are Shamim Osman’s son AKM Ayon Osman (37), nephew Azmeri Osman (45), Narayanganj Metropolitan Awami League Joint General Secretary Shah Nizam (56), Siddhirganj Thana Jubo League Convener Matiur Rahman Mati (55) and many others.
According to the case statement, on August 3 at 8:30 PM, during the Anti-Discrimination Student People Movement, the accused launched a sudden attack on the protesters who were gathered in front of Mitali Market in Siddhirganj's Signboard area. They reportedly opened indiscriminate fire at the crowd and attacked with various local weapons. During the attack, Al-Amin was severely injured as his right arm was fractured by a blow from an iron rod. Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
