The interim government has sent a letter to the World Health Organization (WHO), seeking a direct communication link with the UN health oranisation, bypassing its regional chief Saima Wazed Putul.
Putul is the daughter of ousted autocratic premier Sheikh Hasina, and has been implicated in a number of murder and corruption cases along with some other members of the Sheikh family.
The letter sent to WHO mentions the legal proceedings being undertaken in Bangladesh against Putul, and asks the UN agency to also take measures against her, said the Chief Adviser’s media officials at a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Wednesday.
It is worth noting that Putul became the regional director for WHO's South-East Asia Region on 1 February for five years.
