The law enforcing agencies has taken preparation to prevent the activities of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), who were banned recently. As they’re banned, they will not be allowed to hold rally and processions. Even, their activists will be arrested if they hold meeting secretly. If they do it, cases will be filed against them under ‘Sedition Act’ and ‘Special Power Law’.
Both these laws include the punishment of life imprisonment. This information was known while talking to the police and lawyers.
After the fall of the Awami League government in the face of the movement on August 5, there was a demand to ban BCL. The interim government was given until Thursday to ban BCL from holding an anti-discrimination student movement rally at the Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday.
On Wednesday night, the ministry of home affairs banned BCL through issued a notification.
According to the sources, the detectives have been monitoring the activities of Chhatra League ever since it was banned. The police are also preparing to resist them. Members of the intelligence and law enforcement agencies are keeping an eye on whether they take out sudden processions anywhere in the country to react after the ban.
When asked, DMP's DC (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said, "As a banned organization, they (BcL leaders and activists) will not be able to hold any rally and processions. If they do, cases will be filed.”
