Mohammad Tajul Islam, the Chief Prosecutor of International Criminal Tribunal, has stated that the International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 46 others in separate cases of genocide and crimes against humanity. The arrest warrants have been sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Mr Tajul provided this information on Wednesday.
Previously, on October 17, the International Crimes Tribunal had issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 46 others regarding the allegations of genocide and crimes against humanity that took place in July-August. Those also issued arrest warrants include Sheikh Hasina's sister Sheikh Rehana, members of Sheikh Hasina's cabinet Mohammad A. Arafat, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Anisul Haque, Dipu Moni, AKM Mozammel Haque, Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, former minister Junaid Ahmed Palak, Sheikh Selim, Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, former IGP Abdullah Mamun, Harun from DB, former police officer Biplob Kumar Sardar, Proloy Kumar Jowardar, former DMP Habibur Rahman, former RAB DG Harun Or Rashid, former army officer Ziaul Ahsan, former advisor to Sheikh Hasina Tarek Anam Siddique, Justice Manik, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, former police officer Monirul Islam, among 46 others.
The order was issued by a bench of three judges, led by the chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal Justice Mohammad Golam Mortuza Majumdar. The other two judges are Justice Mohammad Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Justice Mohammad Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
