BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was acquitted from a defamation case in a Dhaka court on Sunday which was filed for criticizing the Awami League during a discussion in London five years ago.
In addition to him, party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were also acquitted in the same case.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Judge Arafatur Rakib issued the order on Sunday.
The case was filed in 2019 by AB Siddique, president of the Bangladesh Jannetri Parishad.
