The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld the High Court verdict, declaring the cancellation of the Freedom Fighter quota in the first and second classes of government jobs illegal.
A six-judge Appellate Division bench, led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, passed the order on Thursday.
The apex court asked the government to submit a leave to appeal petition with this court after the full text of the HC verdict is released.
During the hearing, the Appellate Division stated, “For now, let the High Court's verdict remain as it is. Once the verdict is officially published, regular appeals can be filed against it. We will hear them then.”
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin appeared for the government while Motaher Hossain Sazu stood for the writ petitioners.
