BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Saturday said they want friendship with India, not any slavery.
“If we don’t free Khaleda Zia from jail, the country won’t exist. Bangladesh will be a slave of India by the agreement of India. We want friendship with India, not any slavery. We are not anti-Indian. Our fight is not against any country, rather it is for our leader (Khaleda Zia.)”
Gayeshwar came up with the observation while addressing a public rally demanding the unconditional release of BNP’s ailing Chairperson Khaleda Zia in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
He said the government imprisoned Khaleda Zia illegally without any serious case.
BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas is presiding over the rally while Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will address the programme as the chief guest.
Additional police have been deployed in Nayapaltan and its surrounding areas to maintain law and order.
