A three-day international exhibition of jewellery machinery will begin in the city on July 4 to promote the country's jewellery industry aiming to tap export potentials of local ornaments to the global market, reports BSS.
Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) will host the expo, first of its kind in Bangladesh, at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on July 4-6, said BAJUS Vice-President Samit Ghosh Apu at a press conference at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex on Monday.
Interested people will be able to visit the expo from 11am to 7pm every day without any entry charge, he added.
More than 30 companies from 10 countries including India, Italy, Turkey, the UAE, Germany, China and Thailand will display jewellery machinery at the exhibition.
BAJUS hoped that the exhibition, through projecting modern machinery from different countries, will encourage entrepreneurs to set up new jewellery factories in the country, said Apu.
Five organizations are participating from Bangladesh - Dreams Instrument Technology, Bangladesh Scientific Instrument Company, Expert Instruments, Trust and Rarts BD.
Six companies from India are participating in the exhibition - Tisha CNC Engineering Works, Neo Instruments, Solanki Machinery Works, Era Corporation, Quantum Equipment and Accjet Solutions.
BAJUS general secretary Badal Chanda Roy, BAJUs executive committee member Dr Dilip Kumar Roy and BAJUS adviser Ruhul Amin Russell were, among others, present at the press conference.
