The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted rain or thundershowers across all divisions of the country, including Dhaka, for the next 24 hours starting from 9 am on Wednesday, reports UNB.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at many places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions; at a few places in the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions; and at one or two places in the Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is expected in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions,” the Met Office said in an update.
Daytime temperatures may drop slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged. Due to high moisture content, discomfort may persist, the BMD added.
Simultaneously, a mild to moderate heatwave is affecting the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Narayanganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Chapainawabganj, Cumilla, Chandpur, Khagrachhari, Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Magura, Barishal, Patuakhali, and Bhola, and is likely to continue.
A trough of westerly low pressure lies over West Bengal in India to the northwest Bay, and the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over the north Bay, according to the Met Office.
