The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has lodged a case against a former VAT commissionerate, alleging improper interest waivers worth Tk 152 crore granted to four mobile operators-- Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink and Airtel.
ACC Assistant Director Shah Alam filed the case against former VAT commissionerate Wahida Rahman with the commission’s Dhaka Integrated Office-1 on Tuesday, Daily Sun reports.
ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmin said this while addressing a press conference held at the commission’s Segunbagicha headquarters in Dhaka.
Wahida Rahman misused her power to grant facilities to the large taxpayer unit, causing significant losses to the government worth Tk 152.89 crore, Yasmin said quoiting the case statement.
