The United States has imposed sanctions on former Bangladesh army chief General (retd) Aziz Ahmed for alleged involvement in corruption.
A statement published on the website of the US State Department on Monday local time (after Monday midnight of Bangladesh time) announced that Aziz Ahmed and his family members were declared ineligible to enter the United States.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that they haven’t received the details of US this US ban officially.
In response to the questions of the journalists after the meeting regarding government procurement in the meeting room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Home Minister said, “I have no comment on this. The details of why this ban had announced hasn’t come to me yet. I have only heard of a notification. I cannot answer the question without knowing it in detail.”
He said, 'One thing I have understood is that the US government has banned many people from many countries and imposed bans in many countries. This is nothing new for them. The details of who got bans in our country have not yet come to us properly. In fact, I will know later why it was given.”
