Aktari Rahman, elder sister of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, was laid to eternal rest at her family graveyard in Block-N of Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Thursday.
Aktari Rahman, wife of former director of Department of Agriculture Extension late Fazlur Rahman, died in Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon. She was 85. She was suffering from various old-age complications.
Namaz-e-janaza for Aktari Rahman was held at Bashundhara Islamic Research Center Mosque after Zuhr prayers. Mufti Arshad Rahmani, Director General of Islamic Research Center Bangladesh, conducted the janaza.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, his elder brother and former captain of national hockey squad Abdus Sadek, Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman Shafiat Sobhan Sanvir, Chairman of Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Capt (retd) A B Tajul Islam MP, BDG Group Chairman Mustafa Kamal Mohiuddin, Rupayan Group Chairman Liakat Ali Khan alias Mukul, NRB Bank Chairman Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haq Milan, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, officials of Bashundhara Group and its concerns, relatives and well-wishers attended the janaza and burial.
Aktari Rahman left behind two sons -- engineer Habibur Rahman and Rezaur Rahman, two brothers, one sister and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
In a message, the Bashundhara Group Chairman expressed a profound shock at the death of his sister. He extended deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Also Bashundhara Group, in a separate message, lamented the death of the chairman’s elder sister. All officials expressed sorrow at her demise, conveyed deep sympathy to bereaved family members and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
