Awami League (AL) has permanently expelled the suspended Gazipur City Corporation Mayor Jahangir Alam from the party for disobeying the party decision.
The Awami League issued a notice in this regard on Monday evening signed by its Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua.
Awami League Central Executive Committee has permanently expelled Jahangir Alam from the party which will be effective very soon, it said.
Earlier, on 30 April, Jahangir Alam's nomination papers for this year's Gazipur city mayoral polls were rejected by the Election Commission (EC) on allegations of loan default.
