People, who were in shelter of cyclone centers, started returning home from since Sunday afternoon as the wind speed of the cyclonic storm Mocha has slowed in the coastal areas, reports BSS.
Saint Martin Union Parishad Chairman Mujibur Rahman said around 7000 people of the island took refuge at cyclone centers.
Apart from three cyclone centers, 37 hotels, resorts and multi-storied buildings have been used as shelters in the district, he said. People started returning home from the cyclone centers, Mujibur Rahman added.
Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Kamruzzaman said trees have been uprooted and some houses have been damaged in the storm.
He said there is no report of death in the cyclone but one received injuries as a tree fell on him.
Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shahin Imran said a total of 700 cyclone centers were prepared in the district and 2,32,377 people took shelter at those centers.
Besides, 10,000 cattle were given shelter at the centers, he said.
The DC said people started returning to the district since afternoon.
