Severe cyclonic storm Mocha is crossing Cox's Bazar-North Myanmar coast, as the center of the cyclone which is passing through 50-60 km south of Teknaf in the coastal district of Cox's Bazar, for this Bangladesh's risk has decreased.
Mohammad Azizur Rahman, director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said this on Sunday afternoon.
He said that the storm will come to the coast through Myanmar's Situi region. As a result, the risk that existed in Cox's Bazar, Teknaf area has reduced a lot.
“The maximum speed of Mocha while crossing the center will be 120 to 130 kmph. So even if the risk is reduced, it will have an impact on St Martin.”
“We are expecting a high tide of 8 to 12 feet. This may cause temporary flooding in Teknaf, Saint Martin,” he added.
