Two people were died and two others injured as a mango-laden truck collided with another truck standing nearby on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Bakhar Khandi area under Shibchar upazila of the district on Monday, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Basir Howladar, 34, son of Rashid Howlader, a resident of Shyampur area under Bakerganj upazila of Barishal district and Sujan Miah, 26, son of Mizan Miah, resident of Bekhutia Swajalpur area of Kotwali police station in Jashore district.
The accident occurred in the area around 5 am when the mango-laden truck from Jashore hit a standing truck by the roadside, killing the standing truck driver Basir and helper of another truck Sujon on the spot and two others injured.
As driver Basir was doing repairing work underneath his truck, parking it on the highway, he was hit by another truck, Shibchar Highway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdullah Hel Baki said.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and kept those at the Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, he said.
Police seized both trucks, he added.
