Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested a man allegedly carrying six gold bars worth over Tk 50 lakh in Dhamoirhat upazila of Nagaon district along the India border, reports UNB.
The arrestee is identified as Kibria, 38, son of Md Alauddin of Chakbadal village under the upazila.
BGB-14 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Hamid Uddin at a press conference at the battalion’s headquarters in Naogaon said tipped-off a special team of the border force conducted a drive at Chakilam village under the upazila along the India border on Thursday night.

Kibria was detained following his suspicious movement from the border, he said, adding that the six gold bars weighing around 700 grams were recovered from his possession during the drive.
The market price of the seized gold bars is estimated over Tk 53 lakh, the BGB officer said, adding that the gold bars were handed over to the exchequer.
