A tourist was swept away by strong tides while taking a bath at Labobi point on Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Tuesday and died consequently, reports UNB.
The deceased person is identified as as Shahjahan, 40, a resident of Chattogram, and he went to the beach with his family.
Tourist Police Cox's Bazar region’s ASP Molla Mohammad Shahin said Shahjahan and his family members were taking a morning bath at Labani Point on the beach.
While bathing in the knee-deep water, he was taken away by a powerful wave.
After a search operation by his relatives and local lifeguards, Shahjahan's body was found floating in the water.
He was immediately rushed to the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead by the duty doctor.
