Eleven bodies were recovered from a trawler in Cox’s Bazar coastal area on Sunday.
After the trawler floated on the Nazirertek sea coast of Ward No. 1 of Cox's Bazar municipality, the police and fire service are carrying out rescue operations since Sunday afternoon. Those concerned believe that the body may increase.
Mohammad Zakaria, the upazila nirbahi officer of Cox's Bazar Sadar said that the local fishermen of Cox's Bazar saw the fishing trawler floating deep in the Bay of Bengal and brought it to the lake. After seeing the body inside the trawler, he informed the police. 11 bodies have been recovered till 4 pm. A search is being conducted to see if there are any more bodies.
Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar said that the body inside the trawler was decomposed. It is believed that at least 10/12 days ago the trawler fell into the hands of a gang of robbers. All the bodies were inside the cold storage of the fishing trawler. No one has been identified yet.
