Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed on Saturday visited Bamey Longadu Army Camp and Rangamati Region Headquarters in remote areas of Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) to exchange Eid greetings with members of army of the camps on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, said a press release of ISPR.
He also planted tree saplings in the both camps, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chattogram Major General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, Bangladesh Army Adjutant General Major General Md Nazrul Islam, senior officers of Army Headquarters, other officers of Bamey Longadu Army Camp and Rangamati Region Headquarters, JCOs, other ranked soldiers and journalists were present, among others.
The Chief of Army Staff joined a luncheon with all army members of Rangamati Region Headquarters.
As the Chief of Army Staff, General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed is the first to take the initiative to visit army camps in remote hill tracts to exchange Eid greetings with army members on the day of Eid.
The initiative of the army chief has hugely boosted the morale of army personnel and other security force members serving duties in remote hilly areas.
Earlier in the morning, the Chief of Army Staff offered Eid prayers at Central Mosque of Dhaka Cantonment and exchanged Eid greetings with army officers at all levels, JCOs and other ranked soldiers.
Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated at all cantonments including Dhaka with due solemnity and enthusiasm.
