Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a man and seized 10 gold bars weighing 1.165 kg at the Benapole railway station in Jashore on Monday.
The detainee is Anik Kumar, 30, son of Bimlendu Biswas of Vikrampur Nimtala village under Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj.
Commander of 49 BGB Battalion Lt. Col. Shahed Minhaj Siddique said that acting on secret information, the BGB personnel conducted a special operation in the Benapole railway station area around 11 am and detained Anik, who reached there from Dhaka by Benapole Express train in the morning.
BGB men seized the gold bars from his shoes worth Tk 93.20 lakh.
He was later handed over to Benapole Port Police Station and a case was filed in this connection.
