WhatsApp, famous for adding new features to improve user engagement is rolling out an update that brings a significant enhancement to the platform. Users will now be able to share music on their status updates, reports techlusive.in.
The feature is spotted by Wabetainfo, an online platform that keeps track of WhatsApp’s upcoming features. The feature is available to some beta testers.
The music can be added to both photos and videos. However, as soon as the music is added to the photo, it automatically converts into the 15 seconds video. If you have to add music to the video, then the duration will be set based on the length of the video. You will need an active internet connection so that you can easily browse through the music catalog. If you don’t have an active internet connection or if you are at someplace where internet is not working then you will see an error message.
The upcoming feature is rolled out for iOS 25.1.10.73, which is available on TestFlight. With the help of this feature, iOS users will be able to now share audio clips to their status updates. The feature is already available for Android users.
The feature aligns with the collaboration of Universal Music Group with Meta. The collaboration works in a way wherein WhatsApp users will be able to browse through a music catalog which will allow them to select their favorite tracks and put it on their status update.
To recall, option of adding music to the photos and videos is already available on the Instagram. The feature will give users ability to personalize their status and set a mood for their photos and videos.
