A Bangladeshi youth was shot to death reportedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members along the Khoitola border in Satkhira sadar upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Hasanur Rahman, 25, son of Hayder Ali of Khuskhali village under the upazila.
Hasanur’s father Hayder Ali said his son went to India illegally a few days ago to visit a relative’s house. On Saturday dawn, Hasanur along with others was returning home through India’s Koijuri border. Sensing their presence, BSF opened fire, leaving Hasanur shot injured. He was rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Khulna Surgical Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Satkhira sadar 33 BGB commander Lt. Col Mohammad Al-Mahmud said they have no details information and BSF denied the firing incident.
