Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has shown the young generation a new way of life before they got involved in crime.
The elite force also set a humanitarian example by arranging a surrender programme and rehabilitation of the militants and robbers in the past.
Kamal made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of a workshop as the chief guest at a Cox’s Bazar hotel on Thursday.
“Those who have been trained by RAB are not criminals. But there was a possibility of them engaging in crimes. They have been selected from 36 risky areas of Cox's Bazar where poverty and employment rate is low,” he said.
While speaking, RAB Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said, “We have done some constructive, creative and research works in drug prevention. RAB is tracking and contacting the robbers who have surrendered. I have given the opportunities to them who want to work.”
Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed said RAB works to prevent crime besides maintaining the law and order.
“It is doing the job regularly.”
A total of 36 men and women have been given training at the workshop and handed over sewing machines and certificates.
