Two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured as a covered van hit their motorcycle on Bangabandhu Bridge-Dhaka highway in Kalihati Upazila of Tangail on Monday afternoon, police said.
The deceased were identified as Jahirul Islam, 22, son of Ashraf Mia of Ballab Bari village under Kalihati Upazila and Sabuj Mia, 25, son of Majid Mia of Pathailkandi village under Bhuapur Upazila of the district.
Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station Officer-in-Charge Safiqul Islam said three friends were going to Bangabandhu Bridge by motorbike. While they reached Jokarchar on the highway, their motorcycle skidded off the road and a covered van hit them from behind, leaving two dead on the spot and injured one.
Critically injured was sent to Tangail General Hospital, he added.
