A good number of people of Patiya upazila in the district formed a human chain on Saturday demanding the arrest of the killers of jeweller Biman Dhar, a member of the Chattogram unit of BAJUS.
They staged the demonstration near the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Shahgodi Market area under the Upazila on Saturday.
The protesters at the programme said the murder of Biman was a pre-planned one.
They demanded the arrest and capital punishment for the culprits involved in the brutal murder.
Hindu Dharma Kalyan Trust Patiya upazila unit Monitoring Committee Member Pulak Chowdhury, Bangladesh Hindu Buddha Christian Oikya Parishad leader Biswajit Das, Bangladesh Gita Shikkha Committee Patiya upazila unit General Secretary Debashish Dhar Bapon, business leader Alok Dhar, Pradip Dhar, Advocate Sanjoy Dey, Union Parishad member Abu Bakkar, Tisu Sutradhar, Sujan Dhar, Kanchon Dhar, Basu Dhar, Bishwanath Dhar, Ratan Dhar, Samir Dhar, Raju Dhar, Sukumar Dhar and Mishu Dhar attended the programme among others.
Biman’s children, Archita Dhar, Ayan Dhar and Tanmoy Dhar also took part in the protest.
Mentionable, Biman Dhar, owner of ‘New Soudia Gold Fashion’ of the city’s Rahattarpol area, was slaughtered on his way to his village home at the Patiya upazila around 11:00pm on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) Chattogram district unit issued a 72-hour ultimatum to arrest the killers of its member Biman Dhar on Friday.
