India on Monday rolled out the red carpet to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she arrived in New Delhi on a four-day official visit at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
"A VVIP chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and her entourage members landed in the Palam Airport, New Delhi at 11:40 am (local time)," said Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, reports BSS.
State Minister for Railways and Textiles of India Darshana Vikram Jardosh and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran received the prime minister at the airport.
After the red carpet was rolled out at the airport in honour of Sheikh Hasina, a cultural team comprising 6-7 members performed a welcome dance with playing musical instruments.
Earlier, the flight carrying her departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka at 10:17 am.
All eyes are set on Hasina’s first visit since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
During her visit, the prime minister will meet Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
She will also hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will call on PM Hasina during her visit to New Delhi.
Hasina is also likely to visit Ajmer Sharif.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Railways Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujan, PM’s economic affairs adviser Dr Mashiur Rahman, PM’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque are among the delegation members.
Representatives from business bodies of Bangladesh will also accompany PM Hasina. Hasina is also scheduled to attend a business event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries.
