With the inauguration of Super Specialized Hospital (SSH), a new dimension is going to be added to country’s healthcare sector as in SSH all the services will be available under one umbrella.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is will inaugurate the hospital in Shahbagh of capital on September 14.
Md Saiful Hassan Badal, the secretary of medical education and family welfare division told Bangladesh Pratidin, “Super Specialized Hospital is going to usher a new era in health education and healthcare services. On September 14, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually open the hospital. We hope the hospital will take the quality of country’s healthcare services to a new height.”
The hospital, established on 12 bighas of land, is going to be opened under the supervision of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The construction work is completed and addition of equipment is going on.
Director of SSH and Professor of BMSSU Dr Md Zulfiquar Rahman Khan told Bangladesh Pratidin, “In our country, the patients have to move here and there and go abroad to get proper treatment. To mitigate this hassle, we had a dream to establish a world class hospital that consists of all the necessary healthcare services. With all the necessary support from the Prime Minister, this hospital will bring a drastic change in healthcare sector. Through five different centers, the patients will get all the services here, while in Hospital Information Center (HIS), all the information of the patients will be preserved.”
According to the project personnel, physicians, nurses and health workers have been sent to Korea to develop their skills. The hospital has been constructing by following the model of All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Singapore National University Hospital. After the initiation, education, treatment and research activities of BSMMU will be more activated and developed.
The construction work has been completed under the supervision of Hyundai Corporation of Korea. There will be 750 beds in this 12 storied hospital. A total number of 8,000 patients will get service each day from its outdoor facility. This hospital will have 100 ICU beds, in addition to emergency services, mother and child care unit, cardiovascular, hepatology and gastroenterology and kidney centers. Modern and high-quality surgery with the facility of organ transplantations will be done in its 14 modern operation theaters.
It consists of 73 cabins, among which 6 are VVIP, 21 VIP and others are deluxe cabins. Moreover, it will have wards, surgical intensive care, and medical intensive care unit. Last but not the least, the patients won’t have to go elsewhere when they come to the hospital for treatment purpose as banking facility, pharmacy and four cafeteria will be inside of the hospital.
Vice Chancellor of BSMMU Dr Sharfuddin Ahmed told Bangladesh Pratidin, “Super Specialized Hospital want the patients get the desired treatment in the country and don’t need to go abroad as the people will get the treatment of complex diseases and specialized services in the hospital. With the presence of country’s renowned specialized doctors, this hospital will usher a new era in healthcare services.”
