Tea garden workers minimum daily wage has been increased to Tk 170 from Tk 120.
The decision came after a meeting of tea garden owners with the Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban on Saturday.
PM's Chief Secretary Ahmad Kaykaus briefed reporters at the Ganabhaban gate after the meeting.
Festival and medical allowances, ration, subsidies and other facilities of the workers will also be increased in proportion to the new wage, informed Kaykaus.
More than 150,000 workers of 166 tea gardens of the country went on strike from August 9 demanding hike of their daily wage to Tk 300 from Tk 120. From then, they observed a two-hour strike for four days. After that, the tea garden workers started a full-scale strike and protest for an indefinite period from August 13.
