A person is as big as their dreams, but some individuals go beyond their dreams and make the impossible possible. One such individual is Tammat Bil Khaor, a cyclist from Bangladesh. He set a world record by becoming the first cyclist to reach Everest Base Camp in just 30 days, while also crossing four mountains and three passes. This extraordinary feat remains an unmatched record worldwide.
No one had ever shown such bravery before. Tammat's verified Facebook page has been filled with congratulatory messages from cyclists around the world since setting this record. This cyclist from Chattogram has made the whole country proud. There was a risk of death at every step, but who can stop someone as brave as him!
On November 27, Tammat Bil Khaor posted on his verified Facebook page that conquering Everest by bicycle was not easy. He shared that he had to navigate through extremely dangerous paths multiple times, and the harsh cold winds constantly held him back.
Tammat was describing various moments of this daring expedition. He also had to face moments of despair, but he did not stop.
Tammat Bil Khaor said, "I had just climbed 2,000 feet when I suddenly injured my foot, and I mentally broke down. But I gathered my strength and continued to push forward with immense courage. In reality, conquering Everest by cycling was far more difficult than I had imagined, despite thinking it would be easy and joyful."
Tammat Bil Khaor narrated, "I crossed this challenging path to gift the country a historic record on my birthday. Insha Allah, by the grace of everyone's blessings, I haven't broken a record, but I have created one. Undoubtedly, this is a matter of immense pride for our country."
Tammat Bil Khaor has already completed the Everest Base Camp, Pikey Peak, Chukhung Ri Peak, Kongmala Pass, Kala Patthar, Chola Pass, and Gokyo Ri Peak as the first Bangladeshi cyclist. After cycling for a long time, Tammat became somewhat physically weak.
On November 27, on his birthday, this young cyclist set a world record by reaching the 5,360-meter-high Renjo La Pass. No cyclist had previously achieved all eight of these milestones in a single journey.
Tammat has also earned several other accolades. He walked the longest road in Bangladesh, from Teknaf to Tentulia. In competitive sports, he secured a bronze medal at the Third Bangladesh Inter-University Sports Championship, a silver at the 2020 Bangladesh Games, and another bronze at the 41st National Cycling Championship in 2022. Over the last seven years, Tammat has built a reputation as a prominent cyclist.
Tamma's ancestral home is in Gopalganj, but he was born, raised, and grew up in Chittagong. His father, Nayamat Ali Sikder, is a retired police officer, and his mother, Nur Jahan Begum, is a homemaker. Tammat is the youngest among six brothers and one sister.
Tammat, a prominent cyclist from Chittagong, has competed in various global events on behalf of Bangladesh. He set a record by cycling through all 64 districts of the country. He was also the first Bangladeshi to complete a cycling expedition across Nepal's East-West Highway. Furthermore, this young cyclist from Chittagong participated in a cycling journey along India's longest national highway, traveling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
