The Public Administration Reform Commission has recommended dividing the country into four provinces, forming two additional divisions of Cumilla and Faridpur.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder revealed the recommendations at a press briefing held at the state guest house Jamuna in the capital on Wednesday.
Azad Majumder said that it will be beneficial for administration and political decentralization, for which the commission has proposed dividing the country into four provinces. In addition, it has been proposed to make Cumilla and Faridpur divisions.
He also said that it has been recommended to amend the designation of the Deputy Commissioners and make them District Magistrates and District Commissioners.
In addition, it has been recommended to form a separate police unit for immigration. This will reduce harassment in immigration.
