A new youth-led political party will be launched this month after collecting opinions of over one lakh general citizens as existing parties have been failing to realize people’s aspirations, said Hasnat Abdullah, one of the key leaders of last year’s anti-fascist movement.
He made the remark at a press conference held at the central office of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the capital on Wednesday.
The new party will be based on the opinions of the people, Hasnat told reporters.
Hasnat further said, in 2024, a formative moment has once again appeared before the people of this country in exchange for the blood of the students and the masses.
“Over time, the new aspirations and state vision of the citizens of all walks of life, especially the young people, who participated in the uprising led by the students and the masses, have been created. But the existing political parties are showing their failure to capture it. As a result, the students and the youth, the power of the uprising, have taken the initiative to form a political party with the anti-fascist masses of Bangladesh, capturing the new aspirations and state vision created through the uprising,” he added.
