The United Nations' (UN) humanitarian body on Friday announced plans to reduce staff by 20 per cent and downsize operations in nine countries, including Iraq, said its chief in a letter to staff.
In his letter, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Under-Secretary-General Tom Fletcher wrote that "we will reduce bureaucracy and reporting layers. We will become less top-heavy, substantially reducing senior positions... but have dynamic and full responses where we are present."
