Kanchanpur police arrested four Indian nationals in possession of a pistol from Ward 6 of Bhimdatta Municipality on Wednesday night. The suspects were intercepted near Mahendranagar market while traveling in a vehicle with an Indian registration plate, reports Kathmandu Post.
The arrested individuals were identified as Jeevan Singh Jimewal (34), Komal Bista (31), Umed Singh Adhikari (34), and Sanjay Jethi (28), all residents of Uttarakhand, India.
Superintendent of Police Chakra Raj Joshi stated that the group had arrived in Mahendranagar earlier that evening and was stopped during their return journey. "Acting on a tip-off about a firearm, we conducted a search and recovered a pistol, although no bullets were found," said Joshi.
The police have launched a detailed investigation into the case to determine the purpose of their visit and the firearm’s origin. Further updates are awaited.
