The US presidential election will be held next Tuesday. This year the election is being contested by Democratic Party's nominee US vice president Kamala Harris and Republican Party's nominee former US President Donald Trump. The two candidates are presently occupied with last minute campaigns.
Opinion polls dictate that Kamala Harris is going to have a tough competition with Donald Trump. Both Kamala and Donald have been campaigning through seven swing states for the past few days. These states will determine their fate.
According to media reports, Harris is only 1 percent ahead of Trump in popularity among voters. Trump holds an approval rating of 47 percent while Harris's approval rating is 48 percent.
Trump's fortunes in this election revolve between the presidency and the risk of imprisonment. If he wins, he will become president. If he loses, he may have to go to jail.
The report added that Trump is the first convicted felon to have access to the nuclear weapons code. Also, there are complaints about his hotel and casino business. He is also accused of tax evasion.
According to reports, if Trump wins, he will be the first convicted felon to visit the White House and gain access to the nuclear weapons code. If he pulls off a victory, Trump, 78, will have to face a more humiliating court trial and might even go to jail. This will mean the demise of his enchanted life, during which he has forever had the option to dodge the law and accountability.
That being said, Tuesday is virtually judgment day for Trump.
Trump’s biographer Gwenda Blair said, "He (Trump) portrays himself as the guy who got away from it (accountability). But he is now facing a moment of reckoning. He may go to jail; property may decrease. Whatever happens and whether he wins or loses he will have health problems. He cannot avoid death, illness, dementia, all of these.”
Trump and his father were sued by the Justice Department for racial discrimination in the 1970s for refusing to rent apartments to people of color in white buildings. There are many complaints about his hotel and casino business. Trump University property training courses have faced multiple lawsuits for fraud, misleading marketing and false claims about quality. In 2016, Trump paid $25 million to fix everything, avoiding his wrongdoing.
The Donald J. Trump Foundation is being sued and investigated for allegedly using charitable funds for personal and business expenses. Trump eventually agreed to dissolve the foundation with the remaining funds going to charity. Trump also faces fraud charges. The court fined his company $350 million for artificially inflating its net worth. He is also accused of tax evasion. Trump's personal life is also full of controversies and scandals. There are allegations against Trump having cheated on all three of his wives.
