Fifty-four Bangladeshi nationals are returning from Lebanon under a government repatriation program due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The group is expected to depart from Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport at 10:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, which will be 1:50 a.m. on Monday in Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi embassy in Beirut has announced that the expatriates will pass through Jeddah and are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 6 p.m. Bangladesh time on Monday.
The flight will carry 47 adults and seven children in the first phase of the operation, reports bdnews24.com.
The initiative was launched as a response to growing concerns among Bangladeshi nationals in Lebanon, many of whom had requested to be repatriated due to the worsening situation.
The government began registering those wishing to return, and so far, a list of 1,800 names has been compiled.
Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain said the clearance process for both regular and irregular returnees is ongoing.
This is the first time the government has organized the return of Bangladeshis from the Middle East, with plans to gradually repatriate those who have registered.
